Board Members

Ty MontgomeryTy Montgomery, Chairperson

Ty Montgomery is a family nurse practitioner who currently specializes in skilled nursing facility and long-term-care medicine. He maintains a clinical practice and manages the SNF-Northern Arizona Region for IPC, The Hospitalist Company. Ty holds undergraduate degrees in nursing and communication studies, and a master’s degree in nursing. Prior to beginning his nursing career in 2001, he worked for nearly 13 years as a paramedic and firefighter for several municipal fire agencies in Iowa. Corrie CoppermanCorrie Cooperman, Clerk

Corrie Cooperman is a registered nurse with a B.S. in Nursing from San Francisco State University. Over her lifelong career in Nursing, she has held management positions and specialized in physical rehabilitation, psychiatric nursing, and, since 2007, she has maintained a private practice in wellness education. In 2011, she was a member of the Chapel Fire Station Study Committee, commissioned by the SFD governing board. Ms. Cooperman is honored to be part of SFD and to participate in ensuring the safety of its residents and firefighters. Chief Nazih HazimeNazih Hazime

The current Fire Chief of the Verde Valley Fire District, Nazih Hazime served as SFD’s fire chief from September 2009 to July 2011. His numerous achievements during his SFD tenure include establishing productive relationships with staff and the community. He was also instrumental in strategic planning and improving communications about District activities. Chief Hazime welcomes the opportunity to use his 28 years of fire service experience to address new challenges as a governing board member. Scott JablowScott Jablow
Scott holds a degree in criminal justice and worked for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey for over 30 years— first as a police officer and later a Senior Police Accident investigator. Throughout his career, he also served in the Police Emergency Service Unit and was responsible for the elite Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Unit. He received three prestigious awards for his work as a community leader on Long Island: A Legislative Resolution by the New York State Assembly, a New York State Proclamation from the New York Senate Majority Leader, and a Town Citation by the Town of Hempstead Supervisor. In addition to his board position with SFD, Scott serves as a Commissioner with the City of Sedona’s Planning & Zoning Commission and a member of the City’s personnel board. He lives in the Chapel area with his wife, Janet, and two sons, Kyle and Zachary. Email: sjablow@sedonafire.org.

Diane SchoenDiane Schoen

Diane Schoen studied at the University of Arizona and Arizona State University, and she holds an M.S. in administration. She has served in numerous leadership positions at the Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley. While employed by Scholastic, Inc., an international educational publishing company, she managed sales and service for Arizona. Diane has contributed to many community causes, serving as an elected member and president of the Madison School board in Phoenix and as an appointed member of a Phoenix city commission for the building of the Squaw Peak Freeway. Diane lives with her husband, Arnie, in the Chapel area of Sedona.  She has four children and three grandchildren. E-mail: dschoen@sedonafire.org
