SFD has developed a Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program to better prepare our community to save lives from cardiac arrest.

Cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in America. It kills approximately 1,000 Americans every day. It can happen to anyone, any time, with no previous warning.

Knowing CPR and having access to an automated external defibrillator (AED) can dramatically increase the chance of survival from cardiac arrest — to as high as 80% with an AED compared to less than 5% without.

Our PAD program helps the community in the following ways:

  • Educates community on AEDs and CPR
  • Helps community members acquire AEDs
  • Provides training for AEDs and CPR
  • Helps community members maintain AEDs to ensure they are ready if ever needed
