Administrative Section

The Administrative section provides clerical support to all areas of SFD. Positions within this area include an Executive Assistant, who reports directly to the Fire Chief and serves as the Recording Clerk to the elected Fire Board, and one part-time clerical staff member. They provide reception and customer support at the front desk of SFD’s administrative offices and support the Finance Section by working with shipping and receiving. This area is responsible for many of the written materials that are developed for use either internally or externally, such as project proposals, meeting minutes, policies and procedures, legal notices, public information, etc. One of the SFD’s administrative positions is a geographical information systems (GIS) Technician. This person is responsible for updating the maps used by operational personnel as data is received for new subdivisions, developments, trailheads, and other projects.

Finance Section

The Finance section handles payroll, accounts payable / receivable, fire billing, grant accounting, asset records, insurance issues, budgeting, invoicing for ambulance services, and other tasks. Ambulance revenues are second only to property taxes as a major source of income for the District. SFD is audited by an outside firm annually to confirm that it is following acceptable accounting practices and managing the taxpayers’ monies appropriately. In addition to the Finance Manager, this section includes a Finance Specialist, an Ambulance Billing Specialist, and a Billing Clerk.


SFD’s Telecommunications Division employs a crew of three people to administer the phone, IT computer, radio, and canyon evacuation siren systems. There are 28 radio system locations, 14 VHF channels, 2 simulcast systems, and 1 digital paging system connected with point-to-point microwave to provide communications in the varied topography of the Sedona area. Station alerting, apparatus radios, and a 9-1-1 center are also supported.

Fleet Services

SFD has a complete automotive shop with two mechanics to keep ambulances, fire apparatus, and vehicles running safely and efficiently. Services provided include routine vehicle maintenance and repairs, LOF services, lighting, brake, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs.
